AIKA / JOBS
Technical Program Manager, Data Labeling and Human Feedback
About the Role

Our ability to train increasingly more capable and safer models depends on collecting high-quality labelled data. These data collection efforts also power our API’s anti-abuse and safety filters. We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to drive strategic and operational initiatives to help the Applied AI team unlock as much value and insight as possible from labelled data.

The right individual will ensure high-quality execution of the labelling pipeline. This includes partnering with researchers and product managers to design labelling tasks that support the team’s objective, owning relationships with and project managing our labelling vendors, and developing workflows and quality metrics.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with product, research, and engineering teams to design labelling tasks that help us achieve our product goals.
  • Own quality assurance for data-labelling, including surfacing edge-cases and ensuring the downstream usability of the data for technical teams.
  • Own relationships with external partners and service providers (e.g., major labelling companies and specialized experts) to deliver excellent data-labelling quality.
  • In partnership with technical teams, develop a comprehensive set of metrics that accurately measures the quality of human feedback and optimizes performance.
  • Develop project plans that account for timelines, budgets, project goals, and other key priorities and constraints.
  • Project manage the delivery of particular data-labelling workflows to ensure technical needs are met.
  • In partnership with technical teams, determine and oversee appropriate processes for refreshing labels and assessing model drift throughout the labeled-data lifecycle.
  • Work cross-functionally with research, engineering, policy, HR, finance, legal, security (and more!) to ensure we’re thoughtfully balancing technical and organizational needs.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • Experience developing tasks workflows and defining quality metrics for an outsourced or contract labor force.
  • Experience partnering with highly technical teams, ideally at technology or related companies.
  • Experience managing external partners and contracted workforces in a technical field.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, and a specific flair for balancing needs across technical and operational teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A curious mind and a kind personality.
